Problem Statement

There are limited opportunities for persons with disabilities to pursue arts in the educational and professional space.


Solution

The programme seeks to develop and empower persons with disabilities to pursue a career in the arts to become professional artists.


Outcomes

This programme aims to:

  • Create employment opportunities for persons with disabilities who are interested in the arts
  • Inspire disability-related agencies to adopt a developmental pathway for persons with disabilities to become artists

ARTDIS Singapore was set up in 1993 as a charity to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities to participate in the arts.

ARTDIS aims to:

  • Promote the educational, social, rehabilitative and therapeutic benefits of visual, performing and literary arts;
  • Create pathways for persons with disabilities in the arts; and
  • Assist persons with disabilities in obtaining financial independence through arts and arts-creation through running art programmes, workshops, competitions, annual concert and art exhibitions for the special needs community and raised public awareness of their clients' talent and resilience.
