Independent Living and Community Integration, Post-18 Services and Transition Support
YMCA Club LITE
Young Men’s Christian Association of Singapore (YMCA)
Problem Statement
Some persons with disabilities who have graduated from Special Education (SPED) schools may face gaps in support while awaiting admission to adult disability care services or exploring employment pathways.
Solution
YMCA Club LITE provides a structured membership programme that engages persons with disabilities through meaningful activities and community-based experiences. The programme supports participants in developing social and independent skills, increasing their wellbeing and confidence.
Outcomes
The programme aims to:
Provide an alternative and structured programme for post-18 persons with disabilities on the waitlist for adult disability care or employment services;
Enhance the level of confidence through intentional engagement and empower lifelong independence through life skills-related activities; and
Engage SPED graduates meaningfully during the transition from SPED schools to employment or adult disability care services.
