Problem Statement

Special education students face the following barriers to learning:

An inability to excel and fully benefit from the current, fragmented and laborious Individual Education Plan (IEP);
The lack of an integrated and intelligent platform to provide timely information and insights for implementing special education has resulted in existing programmes and curricula being unable to fully unlock individuals’ maximum potential; and
Individuals with special needs are often unable to achieve higher levels of self-sufficiency and success in school, social and employment settings within a typical classroom environment.

Solution

To provide a student development system for teachers, allied health professionals, and job coaches to collaborate and establish a shared understanding of students’ needs.

The system will allow allied professionals and other stakeholders to work towards enhanced learning, better social integration, and employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. With the system capturing and analysing the students’ profiles and needs, they will be guided towards suitable pathways that will offer them the necessary social programmes and relevant employment opportunities aligned with their interests.

Outcomes

To improve the effectiveness of IEP and curriculum development in order to promote students’ optimal independence in the community and workspace.
